Stop fighting anxiety

Working with the body, not against it

Anxiety can show up as overthinking, worry, intrusive thoughts, a racing heart, chest tightness, or muscle tension. When traditional coping strategies don’t seem to help, understanding anxiety from a nervous system perspective can offer a different way forward.

Does this sound familiar?

Anxiety shows up in your mind and in your body

In your mind

OverthinkingWorryIntrusive thoughts

In your body

A racing heartChest tightnessMuscle tension

If you’ve tried to think your way out of these feelings and they keep coming back, you’re not doing anything wrong. There may simply be a part of the picture you haven’t been shown yet.

A different way to look at it

Anxiety often starts in your nervous system, before your thoughts catch up

  1. 1

    Your body senses a threat

It might be a thought, a memory or a busy day. Your nervous system reacts first.

  2. 2

It gets ready to protect you

Your heart speeds up, your breath gets shallow and your muscles tighten.

  3. 3

Your mind looks for a reason

So the worries grow louder. Fighting them can keep the whole cycle going.

In this free webinar, Stop Fighting Anxiety: Working With the Body, Not Against It, you’ll explore how to work with your body rather than against it, and practise practical tools to help you navigate anxious moments with greater calm and ease.
